Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") explains what TempMailPortal is for and the things you must not do with it. It applies to the free web tool, the API, and everything else at tempmailportal.com, and it forms part of — and should be read with — our Terms of Service. By using the Service you agree to follow this policy.
1. What TempMailPortal is for
TempMailPortal exists for legitimate privacy and testing purposes: keeping your real address out of low-stakes sign-ups, cutting down on spam and marketing mail, and letting developers test their own applications. It is a free, no-signup, receive-only disposable inbox — it cannot send email — and every message auto-deletes, normally within 24 hours.
2. Uses we welcome
You're welcome to use the Service to:
- Keep your personal inbox free of spam when signing up for low-risk newsletters, forums, or downloads.
- Receive a one-off confirmation or verification email without exposing your real address, where the service you're using permits a temporary address.
- Protect your privacy on one-and-done interactions you don't want tied to your main identity.
- Test your own application's sign-up, confirmation, and password-reset flows during development and QA.
- Check how your own email templates render, or demo email-driven features, without using real personal inboxes.
3. Uses that are prohibited
You must not use the Service, or encourage or help anyone else to use it, to:
- break any law or regulation, or infringe anyone's rights;
- commit fraud or phishing, or impersonate any person, brand, or organisation;
- evade bans, suspensions, rate limits, or abuse-prevention systems on any other service;
- create accounts in bulk or in an automated way, or abuse free trials, coupons, referral credits, or sign-up bonuses on third-party services;
- send, relay, or solicit spam or other unsolicited or bulk messages;
- harass, threaten, defraud, or harm any person;
- receive or distribute content you are not legally permitted to handle, including infringing material (see our Copyright & DMCA Policy);
- scrape, attack, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the Service or its infrastructure;
- circumvent, disable, or interfere with advertising, security, or any technical limitation of the Service.
4. Not for sensitive or important accounts
Temporary inboxes are public, shared, and short-lived — anyone who knows or guesses an address can read its mail, and messages disappear automatically. Never use a temporary address for banking, payments, government or tax portals, healthcare, work or school accounts, password recovery, or anything else you need to keep or could be harmed by losing. Use your own real, secured inbox for accounts that matter.
5. Using the API
The same rules apply to the API. It is provided for testing your own flows and for legitimate privacy use, subject to fair-use limits; we may throttle or block traffic that is abusive, automated at scale, or used for any of the prohibited purposes above. Please review the acceptable-use notes on the API page before you build on it.
6. How we enforce this policy
We may, at our sole discretion and without notice, block or rate-limit addresses, domains, or IP addresses, remove content, and restrict or refuse access to anyone, in order to protect the Service, its users, and third parties. We may also cooperate with valid legal requests where the law requires it.
7. Reporting abuse
If you believe someone is misusing the Service, please tell us at abuse@tempmailportal.com. Our how to report abuse guide explains what to include and what we do with a report. Abuse and legal reports are prioritised.
8. Changes & related policies
